following the success of recent novamute releases by charlotte de witte and anna, nicolas has delivered a stellar techno ep. will appeal to fans of ricardo villalobos, len faki, ben sims, jay lumen, charlotte de witte, anna, chris liebing limited edition 12inch vinyl part 1 of a 2 ep series. bougaïeff returns to novamute with permutation djinn inspired by greg egans sci-fi novel permutation city. a follow up ep will be released later this year. following the success of recent novamute releases by charlotte de witte and anna, nicolas has delivered a stellar techno ep. bougaieffs interpretation on permutation djinn attempts to translate the stages of egans novel into music while respecting the constraints of making club friendly tracks. the opener woke up as a copy is an expansive track with blade runneresque metallic reverberations. panic time tryout is a peak time cut, fostering the futurist atmosphere with an unsettling melody. little djinn is the most frenetic of the tracks whilst no escape takes it back to peak time with resounding drums and drills.

some time around 20 years ago, the artist known as dub surgeon made an absorbing album of beautiful dub infused with ambiance, found sounds and horizontal rhythms. the lost future was recorded at the former amsterdam film academy where dub surgeon. the recording engineer for the project was ricardo villalobos. dub surgeon and ricardo villalobos then mastered it together, putting it through several vintage mixers and recording it to 2 inch tape. then, tragedy struck: a storm surged and ignited a fire that ravaged the studio. the master copy was thought to have been lost forever. dub surgeon stopped making music and disappeared into the shadows after just two eps on future dub in 2002/3. but one day 15 years later, totally out of the blue, he received a demo of the lost future. pay attention to this, it said. attached was a demo version of the long lost album and now, finally, it has a perfect and impossibly poetic home on dubais ark to ashes, which is named in homage to the story of lee scratch perry burning down his black ark studio to rid it of demons. sounding as fresh as ever, the lost future is an authentic dub experience with a story as special as the music itself.

the third release of weorus comes with four massive tracks perfectly delivered by talented maurice giovannini and remixed by cocoon’s rising star dana ruh. the ep enter with “orange”, a mystically track perfect matched with the label concept of timeless music. dana ruh on a2 gives the perfect energy for a fully crowded dance floor, maintaining the spiritual feeling in the background, just a perfect interpretation. “plasma” for maurice is the tune that truly can make you go on a higher level, the structure, the sound design and feeling are deeply matched together for a nice and warm b1 start. “bunka” ends the ep in a perfect way giving you the need to reloop the entire ep. maurice again hits with a perfect vinyl already supported by ricardo villalobos, rhadoo and many others.

klas henrik lindblad better known as sasse or freestyle man has been a friend of our label for many years and also released together with dorian for our raum musik compilation in 2005. soul sounds without any doubt still is one of his absolute masterpieces and he was never willing to do anything with it and just let it rest in peace until the idea came up to re release it for our label. usually we are not licensing or re releasing anything but sasse and especially this track of him definitely deserve it. as it is also our 20 years anniversary we got one of our key artists on board that has been playing the track again a lot recently and that also immediately liked the idea of remixing this track and this is the result now. we are happy to present you the original track of sasse plus two remixes by our dear friend ricardo villalobos and label head dorian paic together. enjoy !

thoma bulwer returns with jandaze , his latest ep via parasol culture featuring long-time partner in crime anna wall. it follows parasol 001 their first joint vinyl release, that sold out on the shelves gaining support from the likes of mood ii swing and cab drivers plus on the airwaves via nts. their jandaze ep has already been doing the rounds on the dj circuit in hackney wick and beyond. ‘patience’ was the result of a late night jam session with sync boxes, groove benders and the classic tr-909. after much fine-tuning, it’s been tried and tested by cinthie on her recent australia tour and is set to be a staple club cut for this summer. although ‘insouciant’ means a casual lack of concert, a lot of work went into making this one. it’s the most laid-back of the bunch, with smallville-esque juno 106 melodies perfect for the afterparty or warm up session. this goes out to the post-nyd loft party crew in the wick where it was played for the first time. try pronouncing this one at 7am in the morning… ‘fridge speed’ is a minimal house cut influenced by thoma’s garage roots. think rudely placed analogue synth stab melodies, ‘tuff’ skippy drums and big subs ideal for early hours and “it’s a london thing” house sets. ‘egress’ was made with long jam takes from thoma’s modular system. deep, dubby beats, evolving synths and textures make up this track thats been road-tested on the world famous fabric room 1 sound system by voigtmann in his extended set before ricardo villalobos. current support comes from maya jane coles, archie hamilton franck, roger, cinthie, voigtmann, john dimas.

for phonicas landmark 20th release on the main label we go back to a classic from the same year the shop opened stereofuses casino ep, originally released on berlin label salo in 2003. the casino ep marked the first collaboration between martin wörner & thorsten diegel as stereofuse. they followed it up with a string of other 12inches for other labels but its this initial 12inch that has been fetching high prices second-hand as one of the most sought after releases on salo and for very good reason. a timeless ep sitting somewhere between house and techno (before tech-house became a disputed tag-line!) with the likes of ricardo villalobos & craig richards playing it regularly in their sets.

to make it true and organic was the main purpose when german producer filou started his work for nova 118 ep. both original tracks, radon and scandium represent the path of techno with house influences. the tracks are rich in details and short fills which makes this a truly outstanding record. as this isn’t enough filou presents two versions of -radon- and -scandium- demonstrating where techno and house can take you. as the original concentrates on a percussive rhythm, samuel l. session’s version is arranged more classically -- a deep chord, a clear beat, accentuated hi-hats and claps. the -justin berkovi remix- carefully-placed sounds building the track into a dynamic and hypnotic whole. the percussiveness here is more profound, shaping the track in a completely different way. already massive plays by a bunch of dj-s incl. villalobos.

visionquest special edition returns this september with sakro s supersymmetry ep. edgardo alonso aka mexican producer and dj sakro has been rising up the ranks over the past few years with his raw, stripped-back approach to house seeing him release material with revered imprints in the field such as raum...musik, housewax, karlovak and fathers & sons. here we see the sakro joining the roster of visionquest offshoot special edition, the vinyl only imprint home to material from ricardo villalobos, craig richards, wareika and konrad black amongst others. up first on the package is lusyd , a shuffling percussion fuelled number featuring swinging snares, murky atmospheric pads and choppy sub bass hits at its core. jazz in mars follows embracing robust rhythms and an amalgamation of jazzy sample snippets alongside resonant synth swells to create a sturdy peak time workout. voices opens the b-side of the release with heavily swung drums, smooth ethereal chords and lumpy sub frequencies while a dark and brooding vocal ebbs and flows throughout the composition. title-cut supersymmetry then closes out the release with an energetic rhythmic drive, intricately modulating synth flutters and snaking pad lines.

renowned argentinean artist franco cinelli returns to unlock recordings with three intricate cuts from the vault this september. one of argentina s most respected producers, franco cinelli has been making music for over two decades. the rosario-born artist has made a name for himself with excellent releases on the likes of djulz bass culture, esperanza and raum...music, not to mention his collaborative project alongside dario zenker named maria fresca on ilian tape. with so many of the upper echelons of house, techno and minimal supporting his tracks, including ricardo villalobos himself, franco cinelli s inimitable productions are not to be overlooked. originally released in 2009 and now finally getting a proper vinyl release, cinelli s remix of saccobros why not constructs an energetic narrative that extends over ten minutes. tight kicks work alongside looped atmospherics as a muffled hook and infectious sample add to the heightening suspense. cuts from the vault also sees two new productions from the argentinian. morph sense is the more twisted of the two, demonstrating a medley of clicks and whirrs whilst sci-fi inspired arpeggios operate throughout. as the name suggests, dub sine of the moon is the deepest cut on the package, with its crunchy percussion and subterranean tape delays that form a hypnotizing aesthetic from start to finish.

with spring well and truly in the air and party season in step, mosaic records boss steve o sullivan launches mosaic s 38th release - joining forces with fellow londoner frazer campbell for a new studio collaboration. not content with letting the dust settle from his recent work alongside ricardo villalobos, o sullivan has stayed a little closer to his london home to work with frazer campbell for this latest tag team effort. a dextrous hand in the mix and producer in his own right, campbell has a passion for all things that sit on the deeper end of the house, techno and electronica spectrum. in his own words, thought emoting music is central to his mission having launched open recordings and elliot project records last year: a worthy sparring partner indeed. since the start of the year, the pair had their heads down focusing on finding a happy medium between deeply swung grooves and the airy influences of detroit - shaking out an interesting trio of tracks for their label debut. far from treading the obvious path, the main event a1 hypnotonic revels in a lighter touch as metronomic beat programming cycles endlessly to a held set of notes. off-kilter bass pulses, warped out vocals and effect splashes all intersect to keep the energy input constant as they capture one of those less frenzied moments where the very notion of time seems to hold still. make no mistake, this is a slow burn vibe. head to the flipside b1 soultonic to plunge yourself straight into hip twitching mode when the lights go down. a deep chord, syncopated hats and deftly tweaked synths echo as a full dose of shuffle inflicts its move. simple yet so effective, this track will not let you down. winding things back up a touch, the tougher edge of alleyway funk pushes the feeling on thanks to a thumping kick and a deft nod towards uk garage. met with a soft glisten of a rhodes piano and tweakish melody, the pair round things off in a boyant mood - fans of soul capsule and schatrax will no doubt agree. repeat play of this ep is recommended as its all the more rewarding for it.

isolation diaries is argentinian producer alejandro mosso s 2nd album. it comes more than ten years after his debut, hiperborea in 2005. he says i think the album is warm, emotive and nostalgic but not dark nor sad. it is percussive and melodic but not laid back and balearic. it is tribal and organic but still very precise, as only electronic music can be. the grooves are strong and infectious and the sounds are rich and satisfying, resulting in music that sounds very organic and unpremeditated. the album is accompanied by a burnt freidman remix of the track isolation diaries, and a ricardo villalobos remix of deardrum.

after kicking off in some style, max d. blas and alex piccini s monologue label follows up with a second sizzling release, this time from yaya & lorenzo chiabotti. the first monologue release received great feedback from the likes of villalobos, raresh and matthew dear amongst others, and yaya and chibotti, fire out three original cuts here, that also come with a remix from robert dietz that ensures this is another massive package.

long time friends cesar merveille and ryan crosson return to visionquest to reignite their ‘merveille & crosson’ project in late may with three fresh, intricately programmed cuts. visionquest boss ryan crosson and parisian cesar merveille need no introductions, with the duo’s back catalogues featuring material on the likes of revered imprints cadenza, desolat, little helpers and mdrnty. 2011 welcomed the introduction of their ‘merveille & crosson’ project, with their debut album ‘drm’ on visionquest gaining plaudits from industry heavyweights including ricardo villalobos, and after a five years absence here we see the duo return once again to deliver ‘dream state’, a three track ep that oozes quality from the off. the a side is home to title cut ‘dream state’, a production that tumbles and twists smoothly around meandering synths, crisp percussion shots and a bumping low ends, typical of the duos free flowing and evolving production styles. on the flip, ‘guns’ sets to work through pitched down vocal loops, sweeping sonics and rich textures all reinforced by a driving bassline that carries plenty of groove, before ‘time contraints’ slowly unveils itself with a series of off-kilter gliches and pops, delicate pads and sophisticated sound arrangement, concluding yet another fluent and immersive offering from merveille & crosson, and an excellent addition to the visionquest catalogue.
